Camera strap

One of *our* projects, while A was home over Christmas break, was to make her a custom camera strap for her Nikon D3100, which she got for her birthday.  She scrounged around and found these coordinating scraps and off to Field’s we headed to find some coordinating suede.  Then we proceeded to deconstruct, for parts, an old Minolta strap.  We think it turned out pretty sweet, for a pretty sweet camera and a pretty and sweet photographer.  Just sayin’……..  I hear ya, I hear the groans…….  I’m okay with that….

Thank you, Pam. It’s in the genes….

Oh, unless you meant the camera strap??
It helps to be surrounded by creative people. ; )

This is on my to do list for my niece. Did you design it or use a pattern? I like the continual pieces of fabric as opposed to the patchwork ones I’ve seen online.

    Very nice!

      Thank you, Elizabeth!

We used a fat quarter width, so it was 21″ish long. Finished width at 1 1/2″, so we cut it 2″ wide, front and liner, with a 1/4″ seam allowance, we used a flat fleecy batting that was supposed to iron on, but I think was too old. Anyway…… Stitched and turned, topstitched, then added the tabs. I had been thinking of a patchwork one, too, but when she found these coordinating scraps, it was all too easy, LOL!
We were also considering cutting a 6″x 21/22″, then using some kind of interfacing/cotton fleece interior, pressing down the center, then turning the edges into the seam, for a finished 1 1/2″ also, then many rows of topstitching, then adding the tabs. If I do it again, I will consider a tad longer than 21/22″, but that’s just me…. My girl is tall! A fat quarter and an 1/8th yard are the same, except for the way you cut it….

And my first non-family comment, Yay!!!

I wanted to reply before, but I didn’t want you to think I was stalking you! LOL

I **LOVE** the camera strap….will have to make one for myself to replace my hideous Nikon strap! Your blog page is fabulous!…you’re quite creative!

Thanks, Ginger, the camera strap is too easy and too fun. I wish I had access to more hard materials, they aren’t so easy to come by, well, outside of our camera closet…….
Thanks for the blog compliment. It means a lot to me, in a lot of different ways…..

Talk to me people. I get tired of talking to myself!
